Peter Bjorn and John | Live at First Ave., Minneapolis – May 9, 2007
Last week, I checked out the Peter Bjorn and John show at First Ave. in downtown Minneapolis. Those Swedes can really bring it! Their misplaced English and grandma-ish pants endeared them to the rowdy crowd as out-of-place foreigners in need of its cheering support. And cheer the crowd did!
The best part of the show (and probably the cutest thing I’ve ever seen onstage) was during “Young Folks”, when they brought up a cute girl from the opening band to trade lyrics with Peter. As you might know, “Young Folks” is about two kids who fall recklessly in love over the course of an evening despite the wishes of their well-meaning elders. It was a performance rivalled only by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John singing “You’re the One That I Want” in Grease.
